U.S. rig count slipped again while Oklahoma made gains

 

Another drop of active oil and gas rigs across the U.S. was reported by Baker Hughes while Oklahoma managed to make a gain.

The report, released on Friday showed a decline nationally of 4 more rigs, leaving 619 pursuing the search for more oil and natural gas. The number of oil rigs fell by 5, leaving 497 active across the nation while the number of active gas rigs increased by two to 118. The nation’s rig count is 143 below the 762 reported a year earlier and the decline included 105 oil rigs and 40 gas rigs.

Oklahoma’s count grew by two to reach 37 active rigs, down from the 65 reported last year at this time, according to Baker Hughes.

Texas recorded a drop of 7 rigs, leaving 297 while New Mexico added four to reach 106 North Dakota dropped by one to 30 rigs and Louisiana stayed at 43. The Red Top Rig Report in Kansas showed the count there was unchanged at 37 rigs.

Colorado stayed at 16 and Ohio saw no change in its count of 10 rigs. Pennsylvania continued with 20 rigs and West Virginia stayed at 8 rigs Wyoming’s count declined by one  to 19 rigs.

The number of active rigs in the Permian Basin fell by 3 to 309 rigs. The Eagle Ford added one to reach 50 rigs while the Haynesville was unchanged at 39 rigs. The Marcellus stayed at 28 rigs.

The Ardmore Woodford was unchanged with 2 rigs and the Arkoma Woodford continued with no reported rig activitiy, based on the Baker Hughes r eport. The Cana Woodford saw no change from its 16 reported last week.

The Barnett still has no rig activity and the D-J Basin stayed at 14 rigs. The Granite Wash added as rig to reach 5 while the Mississippi stayed at one rig and the Utica was unchanged at 10 rigs.
