EPA fines Colorado’s Suncor Refinery again

Not only was the Suncor refinery in Commerce City, Colorado recently fined again by the EPA, but it was ordered to buy $600,000 in clean lawn equipment for metro-Denver counties with excess ozone.

The fine totaled $161,000 for production of gasoline with too many pollutants in 2021. The announcement by the Environmental Protection Agency explained Suncor produced 32 million gallons of gasoline with excess benzene and in 2022 made 1 million gallons of summer gasoline with excessive levels of Reid vapor press, which can lead to pollution from evaporation.
