Your water heater is the latest target of the green-energy focused Biden Administration.
The President’s Department of Energy unveiled energy efficiency standards on water heaters that it contends would save consumers $11.4 billion a year on energy and water bills. Such standars are required by Congress but haven’t been updated in 13 years.
The proposal would require the most common-sized electric water heaters to achieve efficiency gains with heat pump technology and gas-fired water heaters to achieve efficiency gains through condensing technology.
