Earthquakes in Permian Basin are still under study

3.1 earthquake rattles part of West Texas - ABC13 Houston

Just as Oklahoma experienced large earthquakes in the past several years that were believed linked to expansive wastewater wells and oil and gas exploration, the Permian Basin in West Texas is going through the same situation.

The Texas Railroad Commission has an investigation under way into the quakes that largely occur between Odessa and Midland, Texas.

The Odessa American reports the Texas Railroad Commission continues studies of the quakes but has yet to take action such as ordering a shut down of wells like Oklahoma did at times.
