Crude oil prices plunged nearly 5% in Thursday’s trading and Oklahoma energy stocks suffered with their own losses for the day.
The crude oil prices fell to their lowest level in four months, largely because investors remained worried about global oil demand.
West Texas Intermediate crude fell $3.76 or 4.9% to $72.90 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
The global benchmark, Brent crude, dropped $3.76 or 4.6% and settled at $77.42 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
It was the lowest price for WTI and Brent since July 7.
December natural gas fell 13 cents to $3.06 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks experienced losses for the day including a more than 6% drop for Empire Petroleum and a 5% decline for Helmerich & Payne.
Other energy stocks recorded losses too, per the Texas Energy Report.
