It’s what Pioneer Natural Resources Co. Chief Executive Officer Scott Sheffield is in line to receive in the $60 billion acquisition of the company by Exxon Mobil. He’s 71 and has been the leader of Pioneer for more than 20 years.
His payout would be mostly in stock but maybe more, according to Pioneer’s 2023 proxy filing. Sheffield has been with Pioneer since 1979 when he went to work as a roughneck drilling vertical wells.
