West Texas Intermediate crude was unchanged at $86.66 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude rose 25 cents to $89.90 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
November natural gas fell 3 cents to $3.08 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks managed gains of more than 4% for the day.
