Crude oil prices and Oklahoma energy stocks recorded weak gains in Tuesday’s trading that left U.S. oil prices still just less than $90 a barrel.
Both US and overseas crude oil prices rose slightly higher but still felt the pressure from a stronger U.S. dollar and what Reuters described as “darkening global economic signals.”
U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose 41 cents to reach $89.23 a barrel at the close of trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It earlier had dropped to $87.76, the low for the day and the weakest level since Sept. 12.
Global benchmark Brent crude settled up 21 cents to close at $90.92 a barrel in trading on ICE Futures Europe. During the trading session, it dropped to a low of $89.50.
November natural gas rose 11 cents to $2.95 per 1,000 cubic feet.
What recovery there was of Oklahoma energy stocks on Tuesday was weak, at best. Otherwise, it was mixed and those that recorded gains from the ugly Monday were small.
