Energy Secretary to go before Rep. Lucas and House Committee

Oklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas will get a chance in the coming week to question Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm about her agency’s policies.

Rep. Lucas, chairman of the House Science, Space and Technology said  Granholm will testify Thursday, September 14 during a morning hearing. The hearing will examine the U.S. Department of Energy goals and priorities for its civilian research, development, demonstration, and commercial application programs.

“The DOE plays a critical role in America’s robust research enterprise, continuously leading breakthrough scientific discoveries on the global stage,” said Chairman Lucas.

“And it’s our job on the Science Committee to provide the necessary oversight to ensure taxpayer resources are being appropriately used and national science and technology challenges are being met.”

Rep. Lucas said he is also interested in learning more about the Department’s research and development program and the implementation of substantial research funding for programs that fall llunder the House Comittee’s jurisdiction.
