Crude oil prices rose again on Wednesday but Oklahoma energy stocks recorded losses for the day. Oil rose as traders remained nervous over further draws on U.S. crude oil inventory.
West Texas Intermediate crude gained 85 cents to finish at $87.54 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude, the global benchmark, rose 56 cents and closed at $90.60 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
At one point in the day’s trading, both benchmarks rose $1, then retreated.
October natural gas fell 7 cents to $2.51 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Wednesday’s trading produced mostly losses for Oklahoma energy stocks including 3% drops for Empire Petroleum Corp. and ONEOK. There were a few noted gains including Unit Corp. with a 6% increase and 4% for Matrix Service Co.
