Not only did oil prices fall by more than a dollar a barrel on Friday, but Oklahoma energy stocks tumbled as well, some as much as 4%.
Crude made its second straight weekly decline after Saudi Arabia’s decision last weekend to cut output and disappointing Chinese data added to doubts about demand growth.
West Texas Intermediate crude dropped $1.12 a barrel or 1.6% to close at $70.17 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude, the global benchmark, fell $1.17 or 1.5% and finished at $74.79 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
July natural gas fell 10 cents to $2.25 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Friday proved to be a weak day of trading for Oklahoma energy stocks.
Williams and Vital Energy each fell 4% and SandRidge Energy slipped 3%.
