Crude oil prices rose 1% in Tuesday’s trading but some Oklahoma energy stocks dropped nearly 11% in value. The gain in oil prices came about because of forecasts for a tighter gasoline market—-plus a Saudi energy minister’s warning to speculators.
West Texas Intermediate crude, considered the US benchmark, rose 86 cents or 1.2% to reach $72.91 barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark, Brent crude, rose 85 cents or 1.1% and finished at $76.84 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Natural gas dropped 8 cents or 3.29% to close at $2.32 per thousand cubic feet.
While some Oklahoma energy stocks managed weak gains for the other, others suffered big declines such as SandRidge Energy. It dropped nearly 12% in Tuesday’s trading
