Rig counts increased in Oklahoma and US in past week

The latest Baker Hughes rig count shows Oklahoma’s numbers increased by one to reach a total of 50 active rigs in the state while nationally, numbers jumped 16 to reach a total of 689.

The latest count included an increase of oil rigs by 13 to reach 546 and the number of gas rigs grew by 3 to 141. In the past year, the number of rigs increased by 257 including 209 more oil rigs and 48 more gas rigs.

Canada saw a drop of 13 rigs to 111.

The count in Texas grew by 11 to 342 while New Mexico was unchanged at 96 and North Dakota increased its count by one to 33.

The Red Top Rig Report showed the count in Kansas grew by three to 46 while Louisiana was unchanged at 57 and Colorado increased by one to 15 rigs.

Ohio’s count grew one to 12. Pennsylvania was unchanged at 25 and West Virginia stayed at 12. Wyoming’s rig count increased by one to 16.

The Permian Basin remains the most active oil play with a gain of 9 in the past week to reach 332.  The Williston added one rig to reach 34 and the Haynesville numbers gained one to 67.

The Ardmore Woodford stayed at one rig while the Arkoma Woodford continued with two. The Cana Woodford was unchanged at 25. The D-J Basin saw a gain of one rig for 15.

The Granite Wash stayed at four rigs and the Mississippian continued with one rig.

The Utica picked up another rig for a total of 12. The Marcellus stayed at 37 rigs.
