Environmental board to update rules

Harmonized Approach to Rulemaking: FTC Announces New Rulemaking Group | Retail & Consumer Products Law Observer

The Oklahoma Environmental Quality Board meets this week for the first time in 2022 and at hand will be a number of steps to update rules and regulations covering a variety of issues.

The Friday morning meeting in Oklahoma City will include regulatory amendments covering Radiation Management, Air Pollution Control, Hazardous Waste Management, Brownfields, Management of Solid Waste, Laboratory Accreditation, Field Laboratory Accreditation, Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Standards, Public Water Supply Operation and Water Quality Standards Implementation.

In many of the changes, the board indicated the amendments were necessary to ensure the Department remains in compliance with federal regulations.

The agenda stated that some of the amendments were needed because statute changes that became effective July 1, 2021 “have rendered certain state rules obsolete.”

Members of the board will also elect a new chair and vice-chair for the remainder of 2022.

A public forum will be held after the regular business meeting of the board.

Both the meeting and public forum will be held in the Department of Environmental Quality Multi-Purpose Room, 707 N. Robinson Ave, Oklahoma City. The regular business meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. The Environmental Quality Board is the rulemaking authority for DEQ.
