Oklahoma legislators to be kept busy with energy bills

 

The Oklahoma House of Representatives announced the filing deadline for new bills to be handled by the first session of the 58th legislature resulted in more than 1,900 measures introduced by legislators.

The 1,942 House Bills included at least 31 bills filed to focus on energy issues.

The total number compared to 1,361 House bills filed last year and 1,733 House bills filed in 2019.

A review of the 31 energy bills saw some focused on rural electric cooperatives, broadband rules, the McClellan Kerr-Arkansas Navigation System, the Corporation Commission, Airports, wind power, water rights, used tire recycling fees, renewable gas energy and oil and gas.

The legislature will begin Monday, Feb. 1 at noon with the State of the State address to be delivered by Gov. Kevin Stitt in the House chamber.
