Nearly 250 Parsley Energy workers to lose their jobs

Just as Parsley Energy prepares to be acquired by rival Pioneer Natural Resources Company in an all-stock deal valued at $4.5 billion, Parsley is laying off nearly 234 workers in Austin, Texas.
The layoffs, effective Feb. 8, 2021 are part of Parsley’s move to shut down all of its offices at the hub in the capitol city. Reports indicated the terminations include 147 at the corporate headquarters on Colorado Street, 85 at the Congress Avenue offices and two at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
The layoffs are permanent but some workers might also be offered jobs at Pioneer Natural Resources Company PXD at offices in Midland and Las Colinas.
