Former sheriff’s deputy sentenced for theft of federal funds

An investigation led by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General and the OSBI led to the recent sentencing of a former Logan County sheriff’s deputy.

Doyle Allen Baker was sentenced in Oklahoma City Federal court to 5 years of probation, 208 hours of community service, $5,001.06 in restitution and a $100 special assessment fee.

The investigation revealed that Baker submitted fake citations and warnings to conceal that he either did not work his overtime shifts or left the shifts early. In official paperwork and payroll entries for the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, he falsely claimed that he worked the overtime shifts in their entirety. The overtime compensation was funded by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration grants to a program that tries to prevent alcohol-impaired driving.
