Groups are complaining how they were kept out of a Yukon data center meeting this week.
What was described as a community Q&A meeting hosted by data center developer Beltline Holdings turned into a private event, according to News 4 TV and a social media posting by Oklahoma Source.
The TV news crew was barred from the meeting at the Express Clydesdales Barn.
““Excuse me, this is a private event,” a man who identified himself as working for the company hosting the meeting said as News 4 attempted to enter. When News 4 asked why media were not allowed, the person responded, “It’s a private event,” and added, “Would you have the media at your birthday party?”
Oklahoma Source described it as a “secret meeting that was not announced to the public.”
The meeting was reportedly held to allow Beltline Energy to discuss potential data centers it proposes to build.
“Upon arrival, we were told it is a private event for community members only. We were turned away along with several other media persons, journalists, and even regular residents who organizers suspected might post on social media. Residents of that community were told by ARMED guards to leave the property,” Oklahoma Source reported in a Facebook posting.
