Lawler Targets Oklahoma Among Other Sites for BP’s Lower 48 Production

davidlawlerTwo years after he left Oklahoma’s SandRidge Energy to take over the Lower 48 operations of British Petroleum, David Lawler still has some sights set on Oklahoma oil production. It’s what he indicated in a recent interview with Forbes.

Lawler, 46, is the brother of Chesapeake Energy Corp. CEO Doug Lawler.

“It is an honor to join BP and have the opportunity to work with the talented members of the Lower 48 organization,” Lawler said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to leveraging BP’s talent and resources while running the business as if it were an independent.”

Lawler wants to take advantage of horizontal technology and his experience in the Mississippi Lime and use it to target such areas as the Permian Basin of West Texas and the Green River basin of Wyoming, not to mention 6,000 drilling sites in Oklahoma and Arkansas.
