A few hundred Oklahoma residents remain without electrical power following the Monday night tornadoes that left one dead in Barnsdall and damage elsewhere around the state.
At one point, there were tens of thousands who lost electricity and in a fast recovery, Oklahoma Gas and Electric reported Wednesday that 99% of its 38,000 customers who lost power had it restored. The few remaining customers without power were in the towns of Winslow and Chester, Arkansas.
Damage to OG&E equipment from the storms includes 37 transmission structures, 120 broken poles, 110 crossarms, 40 transformers replaced and 15,000 feet of line.
Rural electric cooperatives throughout the state are struggling to restore service to their customers. The Oklahoma Rural Electric Cooperatives Association cited the following outages. Most were in Caddo, McCurtain and Osage Counties.
