OSHA is probing the trench collapse that left one construction worker dead in Shawnee Feb. 7.
Shawnee police say it occurred as pipes were being installed for a new housing development and the walls of the trench collapsed, trapping the worker. Fellow workers were able to eventually free the man but he died at the scene.
The incident occurred near the Shawnee Mall on North Kickapoo Street.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified and started an immediate investigation.
