Israel’s rejection of a ceasefire offer from Hamas prompted crude oil prices to shoot up more than 3% n Thursday. While crude prices rose, Israel bombed the southern Gazan city of Rafah.
US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude rose $2.36 or 3.2% to close at $76.22 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent futures, considered the global benchmark, went up $2.42 or 3% and finished at $81.36 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Reuters reported WTI rose above $75 a barrel for the first time this month while Brent breached $80 a barrel during February.
