Senator says his 30-year old tax credit bill turned Iowa into a wind farm state

Longtime Iowa U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley credits a bill he successfully passed in Congress 30 years ago with turning Iowa into a wind energy leader.

Writing recently in the Des Moines Register, the Senator credits his Wind Energy Incentives Act with making Iowa one of the nation’s leading states for wind farm development.

“There wasn’t a single wind turbine in Iowa until after my wind energy tax credit. Today, clean energy sources account for 60% of Iowa’s electricity production. That is proof that tailored, targeted and consensus-driven policies can make sustained impacts. ”
