The City of Stillwater is the latest to join the movement toward LED street lights.

Fox 25 News in Oklahoma City reported this week that Stillwater Electric Utility started installation in recent days.

Loren Smith, director of Electric Utility, told Fox25 that great stides are being made by the city to become more energy efficient.

“LED lighting consumes less energy to operate, requires minimal maintenance, and the lights have a longer lifespan. Additionally, they provide a higher quality of lighting, which improves traffic safety and road conditions.”

Don’t look for an overnight completion of the installation project. It involves nearly 4,400 fixtures and will take nearly two years to finish.
