Crude down on Friday but still gained for the week

Friday’s crude oil trading resulted in a slight fall in prices but they were still ahead for the week.

It appears Middle East tensions and disruptions to oil output countered growing worries about what China’s economy might do to oil demand. As for Oklahoma energy stocks, most recorded slight gains for the day.

West Texas Intermediate crude dropped 67 cents and closed at $73.41 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

As for global benchmark Brent crude, it finished 54 cents lower at $78.56 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

Both finished up for the week—Brent gained 0.5% while WTI, the US benchmark close up more than 1%.

February natural gas fell 18 cents to $2.52 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Oklahoma energy stocks made moderate gains for the most part with PHX Minerals and ONEOK gaining about 2%. Still, there were some losses including the 6% drop for Canoo and 2% for Empire Petroleum.

Other energy stocks were mixed for the day, according to the Texas Energy Report.

EOG Resources (EOG) up 0.08 at 110.17 – change 0.07%

Exxon Mobil (XOM) up 0.15 at 96.95 – change 0.15%

Kinder Morgan (KMI) down 0.11 at 17.20 – change 0.64%

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) up 0.12 at 22.27 – change 0.54%

NOV Inc. (NOV) up 0.03 at 19.50 – change 0.15%

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) down 0.05 at 56.42 – change 0.09%

Phillips 66 (PSX) up 1.42 at 129.09 – change 1.11%

Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD) up 0.20 at 216.83 – change 0.09%

Tellurian Inc. (TELL) up 0.01 at 0.55 – change 1.38%
