Trading on the day before Thanksgiving resulted in a 1% for crude oil prices and a mixed day of trading for Oklahoma energy stocks.
The fall in crude prices came as OPEC+ announced a delay until Nov. 30 for its meeting to discuss more possible cuts in crude oil production. Both Brent and WTI experienced declines of 4% and 5% before they rebounded slightly.
West Texas Intermediate, the US benchmark, fell 67 centsto settle at $77.10. At one point, it fell 5% to a session low of $73.79 before prices rose to the closing point.
Brent crude, the global benchmark, dropped 49 cents to $81.96 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. Like WTI, it too fell, dropping at one point by 5%.
December natural gas rose 5 cents to $2.90 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Wednesday brought a mixed day of trading for Oklahoma energy stocks. While Empire Petroleum had a 3% gain, Mammoth Energy dropped 4%.
