
The nation’s numbers of oil and gas rigs declined by two over the past week, reaching a new total of 543, according to the Baker Hughes Rig Count released Friday.
Oklahoma’s count was unchanged from the previous week with 42 active rigs. The national number included a loss of one oil rig to 410 while the number of gas drilling rigs fell two to 125. The miscellaneous count increased by one to 18 while the nation’s offshore total declined by two to 12.
Rig activity in other states
Texas also saw no change with its total of 232 while New Mexico’s count declined by one to 100. North Dakota remained at 26 and Louisiana’s count fell one to 42. Colorado was unchanged at 11. The Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil and Gas Service in Wichita showed the Kanas rig count was unchanged at 19 rigs.
Alaska stayed at 11 and California remained at 7 rigs. No change was reported in Ohio where there are 11 rigs. Same for Pennsylvania which remained at 18. Utah continued with 13 rigs. West Virginia’s count was unchanged at 8 and Wyoming continued with 17 active rigs.
The national count is 42 less than the 585 rigs reported last year at this time. The loss included 63 oil rigs but a gain of 19 gas rigs and an increase of 2 miscellaneous rigs.
