The Bureau of Land Management is likely to be taken to court over its plans to set aside 3.6 million acres of land in Wyoming. Who might sue? The state of Wyoming.
Gov. Mark Gordon is reported to be exploring opitions for legal action against the BLM over its controversial Rock Springs Resource Management Plan. It’s what a spokesman for the governor told a Wyoming legislative committee.
Some legislators have already voiced their opposition to the plan that might prevent ranchers, hunters and energy companies from using the land near the city of Rock Springs.
Rep. Chip Neiman (R-Hulett) called the plan “an absolute, full-on effort to completely disallow the use of these lands.”
Rep. John Winter (R-Thermopolis) said the plan would impose wilderness-like restrictions on most of the land and effectively lock out hunters.
