A new report from the federal government shows there were nearly 56,000 electric vehicle charging locarions in the country as of July.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration cited 55,924 electric vehicle charging locations. Of those locations, 94% had only public ports and 4% had only private ports, with the remainder having both.
The United States had 157,663 electric vehicle charging ports. Level 2 charging ports represented 77% of the total. The remainder were DC fast-charging ports (21%), Level 1 charging ports (2%), and legacy charging ports (less than 1%).
On average, U.S. electric vehicle charging locations with DC fast-charging featured 4.26 DC fast charging ports, and locations with Level 2 charging had 2.47 Level 2 ports.
