Texas Congressmen say own state can’t be trusted to monitor carbon storage

 

Two Democratic congressmen in Texas don’t have faith in their own Texas Railroad Commission to regulate underground carbon storage.

In fact, Reps. Joaquin Castro and Lloyd Doggett admit they don’t trust regulators and said so in a letter to EPA Administrator Michael Regan.

“The Railroad Commission of Texas can’t be trusted to uphold the standards that protect health and safety in communities with carbon capture infrastructure,” Castro said in a statement. “
