Crude oil prices ended up flat in Thursday’s trading while Oklahoma energy stocks suffered losses for the day, largely because of tighter U.S. crude supplies and a growing likelihood of a coming interest rate hike.
West Texas Intermediate crude gained 1 cents to $71.80 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It came at WTI rose 2.9% in post-holiday trade on Wednesday.
Global benchmark Brent crude finished 13 cents lower at $76.52 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
August natural gas fell 5 cents to $2.61 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Thursday proved to be a day of losses for most Oklahoma energy stocks including 3% declines for Helmerich & Payne and SandRidge Energy.
Other energy stocks also recorded losses for the day, according to the Texas Energy Report.
