Oil prices took a 1% skid on Thursday while Oklahoma energy stocks had a strong day in trading with one oil company recording a more than 12% gain for the day.
What spurred the fall in crude oil? It came after solid U.S. economic data spurred the dollar to reach a two-month high.
West Texas Intermediate, the U.S. benchmark dropped 97 cents or 1.3% to $71.86 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude, the global benchmark, dropped $1.10 or 1.4% and finished at $75.86 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
June natural gas rose 22 cents to $2.59 per 1,000 cubic feet.
The majority of Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains for the day including a nearly 13% increase for Empire Petroleum. Chesapeake Energy went up more than 5% and 4% gains were recorded by Gulfport Energy and NGL Energy Partners.
