A bill designed to require operators of disposal facilities of wind farm turbine blades to file annual reports with the Corporation Commission could be considered Thursday at a meeting of a State Senate Committee.

House Bill 2359 by Boles of the House and Paxton of the Senate would force such operators of a renewable energy recycling facility to file the annual report with the Public Utility Division of the Corporation Commission.

The bill also calls for more requirements concerning the disposal of wind farm turbine blades.

“An owner of a wind farm operation that chooses to send
wind turbine blade renewable energy components to a third-party recycling facility located in this state shall utilize renewable
energy recycling facilities listed on the Commission website.”

The bill also would require the filing of evidence of financial security.

In recent years, the disposal of outdated wind turbine blades has been an issue in other states.

The bill is on the agenda of the 10 a.m. meeting Thursday of the Senate Energy and Telecommunications meeting.
