Enverus—rig numbers continue to decline across the nation

The U.S. rig count had its high point at 853 during the week ended Feb. 8, falling by four from the previous week’s peak, according to Enverus Foundations data.

The count is down 2% from a month ago and up 14% YOY. All numbers discussed are weekly peaks to avoid the sometimes wide variability of daily numbers.

In the last week, the Appalachian count increased by two rigs to 55, while the DJ was flat at 22 rigs. For all other regions, the tallies were down, with the Permian dropping seven rigs to 336. The Gulf Coast and Williston Basin each lost two rigs to hit 111 and 39.

With 71 rigs running in the last week, the Anadarko Basin was down by one rig from the previous week and lost 12 over the last month.
