Oklahoma energy stocks recorded even larger gains on Thursday as crude oil prices rose 1%, ending three days of declines. The increase in crude oil prices was reported to be due to China’s actions dealing with COVID-19 and how they might affect worldwide fuel demand.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil for December delivery rose 64 cents to settle at $86.47 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for delivery in January increased $1.02 a barrel to close at $93.67 on ICE Futures Europe.
December natural gas rose 37 cents to $6.24 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks followed up big gains on Wednesday with even bigger gains on Thursday. How about the 24% jump for Mammoth Energy? It was the most dramatic of stock increases for Oklahoma energy firms. Laredo Petroleum had an 8% gain while 6% gains were recorded by Gulfport Energy, Ovintiv, and Unit Corporation.
