EVs present issue over mileage reimbursements for legislators

The purchase of electric vehicles by a dozen Colorado state legislators revealed a problem with the taxpayer-funded mileage reimbursements they receive.

Legislators who drive EVs get the same mileage reimbursement rate as those legislators who drive gas-powered vehicles and the gasoline driven owners think it’s unfair. They want the mileage rate adjusted reported the Denver Gazette.

““It just seems inherently unfair that I am commuting 48 miles in my 2017 Nissan Maxima per day and being paid the same rate as someone with a Tesla whose mileage expenses are far less than mine and who’s making money on the back of the taxpayer,” said one legislator.
