Big oil discovery worth a billion barrels reported in Wyoming

If oil and gas explorers in Wyoming are excited these days, there’s a darned good reason for it. A new oil discovery estimated at 1 billion barrels was recently made in the central part of the state, a state that has active operations by several Oklahoma producers.

The Cowboy State Daily reports that Canadian Overseas Petroleum Limited confirmed the presence of a 993 million- barrel oil reserve in Natrona and Converse counties. It has Wyoming State Senator Ogden Driskill (R-Devils Tower) comparing it to the massive Bakken oil reserve in North Dakota.

It could be huge for the state, Driskill said, but the benefit depends on what President Biden’s “anti-oil administration allows,” as most of the land is likely on federal property.
