Lankford—US is trying to “out-China China”

Oklahoma U.S. Sen. James Lankford says a China “competition” bill passed by the House, one that would funnel billions into Big Tech and the UN Green Climate Fund, is nothing more than an effort to “out-China China.”

Interviewed on Cavuto Coast to Coast on Fox Business Thursday, the Senator discussed the US House’s recent push to pass the China “competition” bill that Lankford says just tries to “out-China China.”

In June 2021, Lankford opposed a bill, the United States Innovation and Competition Act, which sought to address US competitiveness with China but actually just tried to push the failing Chinese economic “command economy” model in the US.

The bill includes billions of dollars for Big Tech and the UN Green Climate Fund, provides green cards to businesspeople with CCP ties, requires dozens of woke “discrimination” studies that have nothing to do with China, and does nothing to address our dependence on China for critical minerals.

Lankford continues to push the US government to take a firm stand against Chinese regional aggression and economic and intellectual property manipulation and theft. Recently to thwart China, Lankford was joined by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) to introduce a resolution calling on the International Olympic Committee to relocate the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games in response to China’s refusal to acknowledge and stop their egregious human rights abuses.

Lankford and Rubio also introduced the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Action, which was recently signed into law and ensures that goods made with Uyghur forced labor in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region do not enter the United States.

Excerpt

Lankford: If we’re going to respond to China, there are some very clear ways to be able to do that economically. There are some ways to be able to do that by blocking off intellectual property, by preventing them from buying large tracts of property in the United States, and blocking out their enterprises here. There are clear ways to be able to do that. That’s not what this bill does. It instead tries to use federal tax dollars to try to do private industry. That becomes a problem long term. That’s what China’s failing on, and we’re trying to do it here apparently.
