After hitting nearly $79 a barrel in the U.S. on Tuesday, crude oil prices on Wednesday fell nearly 2% following news of an unexpected rise in U.S. crude inventories.
West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery dropped $1.50 to $77.43 a barrel. Global benchmark Brent crude for December delivery fell$1.48 to finish the day at $81.08 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Crude oil wasn’t the only energy fuel to slip in price. November natural gas dropped 63 cents to $5.68 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks took a slide downward too with LSB Industries taking a nearly 9% hit for the day. Others had losses in the range of 4% to 6%.
