With summer temperatures on the rise, many Oklahomans face an increased need for financial assistance to help pay their home energy bills. And with the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the need for assistance is greater than ever. That’s why this year’s Home Energy Aid Month is so important says Public Service Company of Oklahoma.
Home Energy Aid Month (HEAM) is an annual effort between PSO, The Salvation Army, City of Tulsa and other local utilities to help raise awareness and support for area residents who need temporary assistance to pay their home heating or cooling bill. Families and individuals who qualify for Home Energy Aid receive assistance through the Salvation Army to help pay their utility bills.
“Home Energy Aid Month is a time to focus on helping the thousands of Oklahomans facing short-term financial hardships and who struggle to pay for the energy they need to stay safe in their homes,” said Tiffini Jackson, PSO vice president of External Affairs. “It is especially critical this year as many of our neighbors continue to experience financial hardships resulting from the pandemic.”
PSO’s Light A Life program was established specifically to provide customers a way to help our neighbors during their time of hardship. PSO customers may donate to Light A Life by checking a box on their bill stub or through online payment at https://www.psoklahoma.com/account/bills/programs/donation.
Every penny donated goes to those in need, with all administrative costs shouldered by PSO. Donations may also be made directly to The Salvation Army at www.salarmytulsa.org. All donations are tax deductible.
