As US crude oil inventories continue their drop, both at the Cushing hub in Oklahoma and across the country, oil prices rose again in Thursday’s trading.
West Texas Intermediate crude for September delivery finished up $1.23 to settle at $73.62 a barrel.
Global benchmark Brent crude oil for September delivery increased by $1.31 to finish the day at $76.05 on ICE Futures Europe.
The increase in prices came after data from information provider Genscape showed inventories at Cushing totaled 36.299 million barrels, down 360,917 from July 23. The U.S. Energy Information Administration had earlier reported domestic crude inventories fell 4.1 million barrels in the week to July 23.
The increase in oil prices also resulted in gains for some Oklahoma energy stocks. Several had 5% gains including Alliance Resource Partners, LSB Industries, Mammoth Energy and Unit Corporation.
