Mullin’s column: Pipeline Security is Actually Infrastructure

We are better than this': OK Rep. Mullin speaks to GMA about chaos at Capitol | KTUL

Oklahoma congressman Markwayne Mullin asserted that the cybersecurity attack on the Colonial Pipeline Company should serve as a warning of what could happen if the radical Green New Deal is adopted by President Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Writing in his Mullin’ It Over Column this week, the Eastern Oklahoma Republican who also happens to be a co-chair of the GOP House Energy Action Team or HEAT called it a “dark preview.”

“It is clear that these gas price increases are the direct result of President Biden’s attack on the fossil fuel industry. On day one of his presidency, President Biden stopped construction of the Keystone Pipeline, which transported 830,000 barrels of oil per day. He also put an end to all new oil and gas leasing on federal lands, furthering the attack on fossil fuels. In short, President Biden’s energy policies have been a disaster.

The Colonial Pipeline shutdown has also further exposed the weakness of President Biden’s infrastructure plan, as only 6 percent or $115 billion of the entire $2.3 trillion proposal is related to infrastructure. Our country would benefit from more pipelines and more American energy, not less. Pipelines are vital infrastructure for moving fuel around the nation. In fact, the Colonial Pipeline alone transports between 40 and 45 percent of all of the gas on the east coast. Even President Biden’s Energy Secretary admitted in a press conference last week that “pipe is the way to go” for oil and gas transportation in the United States.

This energy crisis should serve as a wakeup call to President Biden. He needs to abandon his socialist Green New Deal agenda and instead put American energy and security first. I will continue to fight for a reliable, all-of-the-above energy strategy that will keep costs low for American families and prevent future energy crises.”
