A study by the state of Wyoming contends any ban on new oil and gas drilling leases on federal lands would cost eight Western states more than $8 billion in tax revenue and $34 billion in investment in the next five years.
Reuters reported the study showed New Mexico and Wyoming would be hit hardest by such a ban.
