Amazon takes over as biggest corporate buyer of world’s renewable energy

Already with wind farms in Texas, Kansas and Nebraska and across the U.S., Amazon announced Thursday its latest projects would make it the largest corporate buyer of renewable energy in the world.

The company announced its backing of 26 new wind and solar utility projects around the globe. The firm’s investment in the projects amounted to 6.5 GW, surpassing Google which buys some of its power from Oklahoma wind farms and previously held the title as the biggest corporate buyer of renewable energy.
