April Fool’s earthquake no joke

April 1 was April Fool’s day but Mother Nature wasn’t fooling around when she unleashed another earthquake in Oklahoma.

But this quake was in southcentral Oklahoma. Typically, most of Oklahoma’s earthquakes in the past 3 to 4 years have been in the oil and gas active regions of northern Oklahoma.

The Monday afternoon quake measured 2.7 magnitude with an epicenter about 3 miles deep and a mile near the town of Cole or about 12 miles southwest of Norman.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded it officially at 1:48 p.m. on Monday.
