Runoffs in Corporation Commission and Labor Commissioner races

Runoffs will be necessary in the races for the Republican and Democratic nominations for Corporation Commissioner in Oklahoma. They are among at least 13 runoff races for statewide offices for both parties as well as those for Congress.

No one won their party’s nomination outright in the race to see who will sit on the powerful corporation commission, overseeing energy in Oklahoma.

Incumbent Republican Commissioner  Bob Anthony finds himself in a runoff with former State Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman. Anthony received 47.17% of the votes while Bingman got 38.42%.

The two will square off for the August runoff. On the Democratic side, Ashley Nicole McCray and Blake Cummings will be in the runoff. McCracy received 48.79% and Cummings got 22.17% of the votes.

The winners of each party’s runoff will face one another in the November general election.

Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy, who made a bid for Lieutenant Governor will be in  a runoff for the GOP nomination against Matt Pinnell. Murphy received 45.85% while Pinnell got 35.70%.

In the race for Labor Commissioner, the GOP nomination ended in a runoff between Cathy Costello and Rep. Leslie Osborn. Costello ended with 43.26% while Osborn received 35.92%. Fred Dorrell won the Democratic nomination  with 73.43% of the votes. He will face either Costello or Osborn in the November general election.
