If Attorney General Scott Pruitt gets any support from Democrats on the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, it’ll be like a snowball’s chance in—–well, you get the point.

One after another in Wednesday’s confirmation hearing for Pruitt to take over as chief administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency tried to pin Pruitt against the wall on campaign contributions from the fossil fuel industry, his lawsuits against the EPA and even the Renewable Fuel Standards.

Democrats opened their barrage of criticism with comments then questions from Delaware Sen. Tom Carper, the ranking minority member on the committee.  He referenced the interruptions of protesters and admitted it was highly unusual for such things to occur in the committee.

Carper was followed by Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse who said he saw nothing in Pruitt’s history to protect the fishing industry of Rhode Island. Then Whitehouse pointedly explored Pruitt’s history of taking campaign money from oil and gas groups that Democrats oppose.

Listen to Carper and Whitehouse’s questions…linked together one after the other.
