Oklahomans against solar and wind projects aren’t alone—it’s happening across the nation

What would appear to be a surge in the past year of opposition to renewable energy expansion projects in Oklahoma might be compared to what is happening across the U.S……falling support for wind and solar projects.

Such an assessment is backed by the results of a a survey released last week by the Pew Research Center. It found the Republicans and Democrats are less likely to support renewable energy than they were five years ago.

Canary Media reported, “The results mirror growing pockets of opposition to solar farms, reignited political support for coal plants, and moves by President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans to kill federally funded clean energy projects.”

Those “growing pockets of opposition” developed some political strength in the Oklahoma legislature over the past several months and resulted in named groups coming out against wind and solar farm projects while at the same time attempting to apply pressure to legislators.
