Kansas ratepayers complain about proposed rate hike

If this sounds like a re-run of an Oklahoma story, it is not, but customers of a major electric provider in Kansas are complaining about a proposed $196 million rate hike.

Sound familiar? It’s the development this week regarding the plans of Evergy which are being considered by the Kansas Corporation Commission. The utility provides power for much of the eastern half of Kansas and some of its customers voiced their opposition before the regulators.

They complained at a June 16 public hearing in Topeka, ecohing the same complaints others made at a June 11 hearing in Wichita. They object to what would amount to an increase of $13 more a month on their electric rates.
