Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has yet to act on a controversial bill sent to her by the state legislature to create more restrictions on the use of eminent domain for the construction of carbon capture pipelines.
It’s among several bills in which the Governor is facing a June 14 deadline to either sign or veto. The carbon capture bill, House File 639, is considered the highest profile bill getting attention following the end of the legislative session.
Gov. Reynolds told reporters late last week the bill is still being reviewed and evalulated by her team and legal counsel. Opponents contend it might harm efforts to create a regional carbon capture pipeline that would gather emissions from ethanol plants located throughout the state.
